Gingersnap Cookies

The preferred cookie at Candiland for tea time. This is a spicy, sweet, and flavorful cookie that can be cooked chewy or crispy, depending on your taste. It goes perfectly with English Breakfast or an Earl Grey tea. It even pairs well with coffee!

Gingersnap Cookies

  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 TBSP ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground Cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp ground Clove
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg and molasses.
  3. Stir in flour and spices.
  4. Scoop or pipe onto lined baking sheet. This dough is very wet and sticky!
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until desired doneness. The longer they cook the crispier they will be. The less time cooking the chewier.
